Dear Diary: Questions I’m Taking to My Dentist About Whitening

Tuesday night. Can’t sleep, so I’m writing this down instead of scrolling my phone again.

I’ve decided I really want to do something about my teeth. Nothing dramatic, just less yellow. I’ve tried two whitening toothpastes and a strip kit, and honestly, the difference was so small I wondered if I imagined it.

So I’m going to whiten my teeth at a dental clinic instead of wasting more money on products that barely work. But I don’t want to walk in blank and nod at everything. So here’s my list of questions.

Things I want to ask:

  • What’s actually causing my stains: food, age, or something deeper?
  • Which method suits me best, and why?
  • Will my sensitivity get worse? (I already wince at ice cream.)
  • How long will the results realistically last?
  • Do my old fillings change anything?
  • What should I avoid afterward, and for how long?
  • Is there anything about my teeth I should fix first?

What I already know (from reading around):
Whitening isn’t a one-and-done miracle. Lifestyle matters. Smoking and endless chai will bring the stains back faster. And apparently the 48 hours after treatment are the most important, so no coffee, no red sauces.

Mood check: Nervous, but a good kind of nervous. I think I’ve avoided this for years mostly because I assumed it would hurt.

Update tomorrow after I call and book. Also saving this link to check their other services: Dental Clinic Islamabad.
